greek god and goddess impact on ancient culture?
For homework i have to write one or two sentences on how aphrodite, apollo, ares, artemis, athena, demeter, dionysus, hades, hephaestus, hera, hermes, hestia, persephone, poseidon, and zues impacted ancient cultures. I’m having a really hard time finding exactly what my teacher is looking for. can you please recommend a website or tell me how these gods and goddesses impacted the ancient culture?
They believed that everything had a representative in Mount Olympus,so to speak. Janus was the God of Indecision, Artemis was the Goddess of the Moon, and the Hunt. Apollo, her brother, was the God of the Sun, music, and healing. Zeus was the King of the Gods, and the God of the Sky, his brother Poseidon was the God of Sea,and he also created horses such as the Pegasi, and the Hippocampi. He was also known as the Earthshaker, because he created Earthquakes when he threw his trident into the ground. His other brother, Hades, was the God of the Dead. He could create fissures in the ground that led to the Underworld. Hera was the Goddess of Marriage, and the wife of Zeus. A few of the Gods “got busy” which made them quarrel, and their half-blood children created untold trouble among the mortals. They also helped many. These Gods, Goddesses, and Demigods made many mortals believe that they had a better chance with a successful life if they worshiped them, and obeyed their commands. Hope this helps a bit, also the minor gods and goddesses had a large impact as well. The anger or happiness of the Gods could change the outcome of anything, such as Troy.
